Arthur Ransome’s immortal story of 6 children on holiday in the Lake District during the Summer of 1929.
4 children are allowed to sail over to the nearby island in their boat Swallow and set up camp for a few days.
They soon realise this has been the territory of two other girls who sail the Amazon and the scene is set for serious rivalry.
The perfect film for the Water Festival and for families on holiday in the Lake District especially those mums and dads who relished the book when they were young and dreamt of similar adventures. The language and behaviour of the children reflects the ’74 status of the film (set in 1929) …..how society has changed!
